One of the city's older krewes is also one of the younger parading organizations via the best way possible - a party! A pre-ball party was held in Armstrong Park in 1981 which led to a mini-parade through the French Quarter in 1984.
The Krewe of Bacchus parade was founded in 1968 by a handful of New Orleans business leaders whose dream was to revitalize Carnival. It now parades in New Orleans along the Uptown parade route.
In 1972 Argus, Inc. was incorporated as a carnival organization by several civic-minded Jefferson Parish business men in order to bring Mardi Gras to Jefferson Parish on Mardi Gras Day. Krewe of Argus parades in Metairie, a suburb of New Orleans.
